I made it!

We made it after 24 hours of travel.  Left GR Tuesday at 2pm, arrived in Poland on Wednesday, 2pm.  That is GR time, which is 6 hours behind us.

Which also means my sister is probably having her baby!!
We flew 9 hours from Chicago to Warsaw, Poland.  Delayed for 3 hours, then flew From Warsaw To Gdansk, then rode a "Party Bus" 2 hours to Slupsk.  Slupsk is in north Poland, near the Baltic Sea.  (which we flew over)
Our hotel is great, very clean! Especially to Nick's standards, being the hotel guy he is.  I'll show pictures soon, I'm just so happy I found a computer.  We searched yesterday all day.  All we know how to say is "internet" then they point in a direction.  A direction that leads to nowhere.
This morning we are out for a walk, and find the library, how easy is that.
Can't explain Slopsk, somewhat poor and run down, but not really.  Most welloff people live out in the suburbs.  We are in the heart of the city.

Wednesday night after our arrival, Kasia's family had a wonderful meal for us at our hotel.  Chicken soup, pickeled cucumbers, rolled beef, and lots of wine.  I'm sure you can imagine what I ate.  Obviously no meat!

Thursday, they had breakfast for us at the hotel, then Kasia and Ben came to show us around town, very cool.  Nick and I and Ben's brothers and their girlfriends explored by ourselves.  At lunch, we pointed to something, all we know is that the top of the menu said Pizza.  We lucked out and got cheese pizza.

Language barrier is very frustarting, the Polish are quite rude with those that speak English.

Last night the groomsmen were picked up for rehearsal at 5:30, then we all (thirty people) had dinner.  Very large crowd as this is a double wedding.  One end of this massive table was Polish speaking, the other was English.  Poor Kasia had to go around with the waiter and translate.  Most everything is written in Polish, then English under it.

Well, rough night.  You know me, I somewhat lost it.  Thank God someone had an international phone, and I was able to call Kelly.  I would have called Ali, yet wasnt sure where she would be.
Kelly calmed me down a bit, but I could not go back in to eat my dinner.  Nick walked me back to the hotel, and I crashed.  Slept 12 hours last night.
Better off I did, as everyone was out till 4am.

Today the wedding is at 4pm.  then the BIG party begins.  The reception is from 6pm to 6am.  Mmmm... I may lose it again.

Very exciting things to see, definately a well worth trip. I am enjoying myself, totally relaxed except for last night.  We are with a great group of people.  Ben's family from Michigan, and of course, aunties and Grandma.
Fun people!

Few odd things, hotel rooms have 2 single beds.  Bottled water is bubbly soda water, everyone is dressed up, and walking in high heels.  Everyone walks, and walks.  I wonder where they are all going?

Jr, I have many pictures of the crazy cars for you, you will laugh so hard.
Ali, all dogs are mixed, and tiny.  They walked next to their owner, no leash.  Just follow their owner everywhere.  If they go into a store, the dog waits outside.  I don't think they have names, as they always call them "Doggie" or "Dog"  When they exit a store, they say "Come on doggie."  Lots of Weiner Dogs, and Jack Russels.  Never anything as big as Hunty and Crickey. Oh, my baby girl and big boy...

Ben's friend from NY has a picture of his dog, I don't.  Not smart... I miss them, but not as much as I miss Ali.  We will returm when you are older.  A great adventure for you.

Okay, signing off for now.  So, so glad I found a computer.  I hope you are all okay.  I'm praying hard core for Kelly Lynn.  Can't wait to see Tyler.
I must go now as I am tearing up, and can't see the keyboard.

Having a great time, am safe, not married (which isn't funny people) and amazed at Gods creation.
Love you Ali, and all.
Kristine
